The shiny side of aluminum foil holds heat better. If we do not want our dish to cool down too quickly, we should wrap it with the shiny side from the inside. We do the same when baking food in the oven or on the grill.

The matte side of the aluminium foil, on the other hand, keeps the food fresh for longer. When preparing sandwiches for the road, we should therefore roll them so that the matte side is on the inside and the shiny side on the outside. In this way, we will limit the inflow of warm temperature, so that our sandwiches do not heat up or spoil. When putting food in the fridge, we should also cover it with the shiny side up, which will make it cool down faster.
