How to replace the battery in a hearing aid?
2019-05-19
It seems like a simple thing – changing the battery, yet there are several aspects to pay attention to in order to ensure a long battery life and not damage the hearing aid.
Typically, your hearing aid will let you know that the life of your battery is coming to an end, for example, with two beeping signals. These signals will be repeated from time to time until the battery is completely drained. How long your battery will last after such a signal depends on how intensively your hearing aid is used during that time. This can happen very quickly or in a few hours. It is advisable to always have spare batteries for hearing aids with you (packed in the original packaging, preferably in a protective box).

When the battery is completely discharged, the device should turn off, for example, giving a signal in the form of four repetitions.
The used battery should be removed from the hearing aid immediately to avoid damaging the equipment. Batteries should be returned to collection points for used batteries. These can be stores with household appliances or others.
1. Open the battery compartment – it is usually a protruding part of the casing that can be pulled.
2. Remove the used battery. The battery can be easily removed using a small tool containing a magnet.
3. Remove the protective sticker from the new battery. If there is moisture on the battery, remove it with a cloth.
4. Wait about 1-2 minutes for the battery to aerate (more about how to handle zinc-air batteries for hearing aids).
5. Place the new battery in the device. You can use the magnetic tool again to place the battery. Pay attention to the poles (the plus and minus signs on the battery must correspond to the signs on the device).
6. Close the battery compartment.
