Professional processor charger with a three-stage charging process TC/CC/CV. Xtar VP4 charges standard Li-ion cells 3.6 / 3.7V in sizes 10440, 14500, 14650, 16340, 17500, 17670, 18350, 18500, 18650, 18700, 20700, 21700 - only unprotected, 22650, 25500, 26650, 32650. The largest size batteries, i.e., 22650, 26650, and 32650 can only be charged in the two outer channels.
The charging current is set collectively for all channels using a button located above the display. When charging 1-2 batteries placed in the outer channels, the maximum charging current is 1A. However, when charging 3-4 batteries or placing at least one battery in one of the two middle channels, the maximum charging current is 0.5A.
Xtar VP4 is equipped with an LCD display informing about the charging current, charging progress, and the current voltage of the batteries.
What is the TC/CC/CV charging method? It is a three-stage charging process for Li-ion cells that ensures the cell remains in good condition by charging with the appropriate current at each stage and completing the charging process at the right moment.
The individual stages of the TC/CC/CV process are:
- TC Phase: cells discharged below 2.9V are 'woken up' with a lower current.
- CC Phase: after reaching 2.9V, the cell is charged with a constant current and voltage value selected by the user (default 0.25A).
- CV Phase: when the cell is almost charged, the charger switches to charging with a decreasing current until the appropriate voltage on the cell is reached. Once this is achieved, the charging process is complete - the battery is fully charged.
Batteries left in the charger will undergo a natural self-discharge process. Charging will resume when the voltage on the battery drops below 3.9V.
The Xtar VP4 charger has a function for reactivating deeply discharged cells and cells with a voltage of 0V. Many chargers on the market are unable to charge such batteries. Here, the Xtar VP4 charger comes to the rescue, which in many cases allows for the 'rescue' of such cells. Just insert the deeply discharged battery into the VP4 charger, just like with normal charging - the charger will detect the discharged cell and attempt to reactivate it. Note! Cells discharged below a certain level may suffer irreversible damage, and their reactivation may be impossible. It is advisable to avoid excessively deep discharging of Li-ion batteries - this can lead to a significant reduction in their lifespan and capacity or render them completely inoperative.
Chargers from other manufacturers can significantly raise the temperature of the charged cells during charging. Excessive heating of the cells can cause them to wear out faster. In designing the VP4 charger, Xtar has gone a step further than the competition, solving this problem in a simple way: it uses power from an external power supply. As a result, the temperature of the battery being charged in the VP4 will rise by a maximum of 15 degrees.
Included with the Xtar VP4 charger is a mains power supply with an EU plug and a 12V car cigarette lighter cable.
