The VX4 is an advanced smart charger and recognizes the type of battery in it (except Li-FePO4).

In addition, it has 4 independent channels, so you can freely mix types and sizes of batteries, here also with a small exception - the charger is not able to charge ordinary Li-ion and Li-FePO4 batteries at the same time.

So we can mix the following types as much as possible:

1.5V Li-ion + 3.6/3.7V Li-ion + 1.2V Ni-Mh

or

1.5V Li-ion + 3.2 Li-FePO4 + 1.2V Ni-Mh

The first charger that is able to measure the real capacity of 1.5V lithium-ion batteries in AA and AAA sizes!

In addition to the normal charging function, the charger also has a rechargeable battery test function. This involves charging the battery fully, then discharging it (measuring the actual capacity) and after the discharge process is complete, the charger recharges the batteries to full. Thanks to this, we are not able to know the true total capacity of the battery. Type mixing is just as dependent on the load function as it is for load functions. Physically, we can only discharge:

1.5V Li-ion + 3.6/3.7V Li-ion + 1.2V Ni-Mh

or

1.5V Li-ion + 3.2 Li-FePO4 + 1.2V Ni-Mh

The Xtar VX4 charger gives the user the option of manual charging current for the selected number and type of batteries.
In the case of 1.5V and 1.2V Ni-MH Li-ion batteries, the charger always charges with 0.5A, while in the case of 3.6/3.7V and 3.2V Li-FePO4 Li-ion batteries, the user can choose from a wide range of charging currents:

1x 3A / 2x 2A / 4x 1A / 4x 0.5A / 4x 0.25A - ideal current for low-capacity batteries

To take full advantage of the charger's current capabilities, use a PD 20W compatible charger.
The VX4 will also work with weaker power supplies, although then it will limit the possibility of charging with higher currents.

The Xtar VX4 charger keeps the user informed about the basic parameters of the batteries placed in it.
Thanks to this, we can see the charging current on an ongoing basis, the amount of charge used to charge the battery and the voltage on the battery.

The exception is 1.5V Li-ion batteries - here we only see the actual charging current during the charging process.

We already know that the VX4 charger allows you to manually adjust the charging current, but we must also mention that it can also optimally select this current itself.
An advanced processor will select the appropriate charging current based on the number of batteries placed, their internal resistance and the connected power source.

The Xtar VC4 charger has the function of reactivating deeply discharged cells and cells with a voltage of 0V. Many chargers on the market are not able to charge such batteries. This is where the Xtar VC4 charger comes in handy, which in many cases allows for the 'rescue' of such cells. Simply insert a deeply discharged battery into the VC4 charger as you would with normal charging - the charger will detect the discharged battery and attempt to reactivate it.

Remark! Cells discharged below a certain level are irreversibly damaged and may not be able to reactivate. Avoid too deep discharge of Li-ion and Ni-MH batteries - this can lead to a significant reduction in their durability and capacity or lead to their complete inefficiency.

What is the TC/CC/CV loading method? It is a three-stage charging process for Li-ion cells that ensures that the cell is kept in good condition by charging with the right current at each stage and completing the charging process at the right time.
The different steps of the TC/CC/CV process are:

  • TC phase: cells discharged below 2.9V are 'woken up' with a lower current.
  • CC phase: after reaching 2.9V, the cell is charged with a constant current of 0.1A to 3A (depending on the power source used and the number of batteries charged).
  • CV phase: when the cell is almost charged, the charger switches to charging with decreasing current until the voltage of 4.2V on the cell is reached. Once 4.2V is reached, the charging process is complete - the battery is fully charged.

The Xtar VX4 charger is equipped with a number of safeguards, so you can have peace of mind and be sure that each battery will be fully and properly charged. It has, among others, such security features as:
