Memory Stick memory cards
2019-08-30
Currently rarely used. Previously mainly used in Sony and Ericsson devices. At present, microSD cards along with the appropriate Memory Stick adapters are most commonly used.
Types of Memory Stick cards:
- Memory Stick PRO features increased data transfer speed and larger capacity.
- Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick PRO Duo are versions of memory cards where the size of the card has been reduced by half.
- Memory Stick Micro, also known as M2, is a miniature version of the Memory Stick card – with sizes almost four times smaller than the standard.

Adapter
The Memory Stick Duo adapter allows the use of Memory Stick Duo memory cards in devices that support Memory Stick (Standard) cards. The adapter enables the use of new MS PRO, MS Duo, and MS PRO Duo cards in devices that only support standard Memory Stick cards.A new adapter is included with the new Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick PRO Duo cards, allowing the use of Duo (Short) standard cards in devices designed to work with Memory Stick (Long) standard cards. Similarly, for M2 cards, there are two adapters, one for the Duo format and another for Memory Stick.
It should be noted that adapters are only for physically fitting the card to the device. They do not guarantee that a device in the old Memory Stick format will support new cards. This is due to the fact that older devices (which mainly use "long cards") often have limitations regarding maximum capacity and speed.
